Great Songs That Should Be Popular!

Heya! I know this isn't book related...but I really want to draw people's attention to less popular bands that need more love!! Some of these songs had songs on their album be popular at some point, but they were forgotten. :( Anyway, love these songs and I think that more people should listen to them.

Hurricane by Panic! at the Disco

Every song by P!ATD is great, but this one is one of my favorites. They do have some other songs that are more well-known, but this one isn't!! Plus, it's great.

Broken Record by Tessa Violet

I ADORED Tessa Violet. Seriously. If you don't like this song, look up another one because you'll probably like one.

Annabelle by A Rocket to the Moon

ARTTM is one of my all-time favorite bands ever. Top 3, at least. This is the song I'm obsessed with right now.

Called Out in the Dark by Snow Patrol

This is my favorite song by Snow Patrol, and it's honestly not for everyone, but I really love it!!

Listen To This Song

Things We Lost In the Fire by Bastille

I like this song even more than Pompeii, actually. This song never became popular and it made me sad.... :(

Listen To This Song

Luck by American Authors

I heard this on the radio once, and never again. I love this song though.....

Listen To This Song

Dreaming OR Karaoke by Smallpools

I couldn't decide.... Smallpools is up there with my favorite bands ever! :)

Listen To Dreaming
Listen To Karaoke

Anything But Ordinary by Avril Lavigne

This came out around the time Sk8er Boy and Complicated got popular and this song didn't.... Making this list makes me sad.... :'(

Listen To This Song

The Bird And The Worm by Owl City

Oh songs that nobody's heard of because other songs on the same album got more popular.... Why must you exist???

Listen To This Song

Okay, I'm going to stop there because I could go on forever. I thought 10 was a nice round number to stop on! You guys should listen to these songs!

Also, I was thinking about making this a monthly thing or something. What do you think? I know this is supposed to be a book blog but still..... Would you even read these posts?

Thanks for reading (and listening)!!! See you!

What's up?!?!? So it was I think Tuesday that I went on the Barnes&Noble website. Wait, wait, let me give you some background!!

I read a book in 5th or 6th grade that I got from the library. For some reason, a little while later, I thought back and realized I didn't even remember the title of the book. It wasn't until I got a Goodreads that I really started searching for it, though. I wanted to put it on my read shelf, but I didn't even know the name!

Sometimes, when I would go back to that library to look for that book, but they had rearranged the books so I could never find it.... Also, I would go on Google and try to find the book with that, but it would never come up with it. After about a year of searching, I finally gave up. :'(

So Tuesday!! Yes, last Tuesday. Two days ago. I was on the Barnes&Noble website looking up prices and reviews and stuff for Half Wild by Sally Green (which was when it came out), and ended up going to the YA section (like ya do) and narrowing down books by genre and whatever. I started thinking about that book and I'm like, maybe I could find it! So I narrowed it down to YA fantasy books about the afterlife. There were only about 70 so I looked through the first page's book's descriptions. When I couldn't find it, I look on the second page. WHICH IS WERE I FOUND IT.

I was looking at the title thinking, you know, that looks familiar. So I read the description and was like, OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG. O.M.G.  Two years after I read it I finally found it in about 20 minutes. It all made me feel like an idiot, but still.

Have ANY of you forgotten the name of a book you once read? That was my big one for awhile, and I'm still kind of flabbergasted I found it at all. So I just wanted to know if any of you have had a similar experience? Please, please tell me if you have! I'm still feeling like a bit of an idiot over here....

ALSO! I really loved this book and it's seriously under hyped, so I thought I'd give it some love <3

It's called Touching the Surface and here's the
Amazon Link
Barnes&Noble Link
Book Depository Link

Thanks for Reading! Please check out Touching the Surface, because I really do love it! Post soon, bye!

6 Tips To Reduce Your TBR!

I'm not one to say I have my TBR pile under control. Which is weird because I lie quite a bit. Actually, I just did a recent count and found that I have read about two-thirds of the books of my shelf. That's....sad. Why do book lovers buy so many books? Because they're pretty, they smell good, to read, because of reviews, hype, etc. Anyway, I thought I'd give you guys some tips on how to keep your TBR down, and maybe I'd give myself some motivation! So yeah, ENJOY OR SOMETHING.

1. Read-to-Buy Ratio

I've seen this done a few times, and it seems to work for a lot of people. It's simple, all you have to do is set yourself a goal to read so many books before purchasing another. I feel this works best when there's a highly anticipated book on the way!

2. Put Stuff On Your Bookshelf

Personally, this is what I do. I decide I want this owl sculpture (there's really three on there) on my shelf. I DON'T ALLOW MY SELF TO TAKE IT OFF. If you're like me, and you want your shelves to stay pretty, you'll stop buying books so you can fit your owl sculptures.

3. Make a List of All Your Unread Books

This, hopefully, will make you aware of how many books you still have yet to read. If you have an entire page of unread books, it may make you feel motivated to keep reading!

4. Stop Writing!

I don't know if it's just me, but when I am really focused on writing I just can't seem to pick up a book. If you really want to set a time to super-read through all of your TBR pile, I suggest putting of writing for a bit.

5. Set a Certain Amount of Book Buying Money

This REALLY helps me. If you split up what you earn into piles, one for books and one for everything else (which, if you're super duper organized, you may split up farther) then you're less likely to buy a ton of books. Though I do suggest not putting too much money in your book buying pile!

6. Readathons!

No readathon has ever help me personally, but I know they help a lot of people get their TBR pile down. Especially when they're motivated by either internet friends or real life friends! So join a readathon today! Now I'm a bad commercial!

That's all my tips! I hope you can use some of them in your day-to-day life to help get down that insane TBR pile. Also, I was thinking of hosting a bit of a readathon of my own soon to get down mine, so look out for that! Thanks for reading! Goodbye!

Top 5 Awesomenessest Covers of 2015

So I was looking through the books that come out in 2015, and was AMAZED. Really, we have some pretty awesome covers coming our way! I'm so excited for some of these and others I don't really care about, but I love the covers so why does it matter?

Without farther interruption from my A.D.H.D. brain, I bring you book covers, awesome book covers.

These aren't in order at all, well, I guess the order I find them in.

1. Half Wild by Sally Green

This just came out today and I'm dying (I got this when it came out LAST YEAR). But yeah, I love the simpleness (That's a word...) of this cover!

2. Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard

Oh come on, this cover is amazing! I haven't read it, but I <3 the cover!

3. Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas

Like all the other books in this series, this cover is fantabulous.

4. Firefight by Brandon Sanderson

I already bought this! The cover is AWESOME though.

5. Winter by Marissa Meyer

I only read Cinder and didn't really like it, but SPARKLY.
I'm going to have to end there because I ran out of ideas and The Sword of Summer cover hasn't been released yet (which I'm expecting to be amazing). Thanks for reading! I'm going to buy Half Wild now. Anyone know if Barnes & Noble has it the first day? See ya!

Disturbing Quotes from Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

Hello! So if you've never read Shatter Me, it's basically about a girl that has a lethal touch and her struggles and stuff. It is set in a dystopian world (Really? I never would have guessed!) that is pretty much dying, the birds have stopped flying and The Reestablishment (creative, I know) has taken over and not kept there promises (WOW SO ORIGINAL). Anyway, this is not about the book, which I actually LOVED (despite my sarcastic comments), but the writing. It's very, um, strange. Anyway, here are some weird examples of quotes in Shatter Me (which I totally recommend if you can get over the good, but weird writing)!

1. "He says it with a small smile the size of Jupiter"

This isn't really all that bad, until you realize this is the ENTIRE BOOK.

2. "Every organ in my body falls to the ground"

That's kind of gross. I'm picturing this and I can't get the image out of my head.

3. "My mouth is sitting on my kneecaps"

You should go see a doctor about that....

4. "My spine is conducting enough electricity to power a city"

Seriously, how are you even alive right now??

5. "I am an old creaky staircase when I wake up"

What even what. Huh? Why? What? I don't get this.... I know it's a metaphor, but just, WHY?

6. "My jaw is dangling from my shoelace"

Ew. Ew. When I saw this I thought I was going to throw up. Not kidding.

7. "Warner thinks Adam is a cardboard cutout of vanilla regurgitations"

I laughed when I read this actually. What even is this?

8. "I catch the rose petals as they fall from my cheeks, as they float around the frame of my body, as they cover me in something that feels like the absence of courage"

This has stopped sounding YA, and now it's more like a classic.

9. "The sky is raining bricks right into my skull"

If you can't tell, this scene takes place in a closet full of beautiful clothing.

Then there's the acknowledgments:

"You've filled my days with shooting stars, and one day I will pluck the moon from the sky and fit it in your mailbox"

Okay, I love you Tahereh Mafi, Shatter Me is amazing. But I don't really want to meet you anymore.

Thanks for reading! BTW I seriously do love the Shatter Me Trilogy, just the writing is, unique. Or something. If you liked the quotes above, or like the idea of an insane main character from a first person p.o.v. you would LOVE this book! Post soon, see you! :)

Friday, March 20, 2015

Heya! So recently I started another blog with two other bloggers! It's definately a change from this blog, but it's still fun to have to work together as a team a bit.

If you've never co-blogged, it's honestly not that different from regular blogging, except that other people's posts just kind of show up. I always know what I'm posting, but I never know what's running though other people's heads.... Working together also seems to get a blog up and going a bit faster, like it's already been there for months instead of just a week or two. It may be because everyone is promoting it, but maybe not. I don't really know. All I know is that we got hundreds of pagesviews VERY quickly.

Anyway, if you are thinking about starting a blog with someone else, I swear it's not as hard as it sounds. It's pretty much just you posting, and other people posting on the same blog. I think people also like that there's usually more posts!

I know that was short, but I thought I'd just let you in on our new creation, and tell you a bit about the co-blogging experience! It would also be fantastic if you could check out our new blog!!

Thanks for reading!!

WELLLLL. Wasn't that fun? Apparently, I'm bad at more than one picture, colors, and everything else. Basically, I've been editing this post for the past hour. Anyway, I hope it was worth it and you liked this post! If not, this really sucks..... But yeah, um thanks for reading, hopefully the final post isn't that messed up. Goodbye.....?
